Make Sure Santa Didn't Leave These Defective Products Under the Tree
The team at Welmaker Injury Law wishes all of our clients a safe and happy New Year. Before January gets too far in, it's essential to make sure that Santa didn't leave any defective products and dangerous toys behind as he carried on his merry way. If so, the following are some of the most dangerous products and toys you should immediately take back to the store.
Graco Inclined Sleeper Accessory - Designed to fit the Graco Pack 'n Play and other Graco products, this sleeper poses a considerable suffocation hazard for infants.
Cannondale Canvas NEO Bicycle - Sure, some exercise would be nice, but it would be even nicer to come home without the front fender detaching and causing a crash.
Thermo Tents - This is a less serious recall, but owners should take note nonetheless. The tents are incorrectly labeled as fire retardant, yet will provide no protection when exposed to flame.
Honda 700 & Honda 1000 ATV's - The Honda 700 and 1000 series ATV's are currently under recall due to steering problems that can cause the vehicle to veer out of control.
Huffy Torex - The Huffy Torex is under recall due to sudden movement that can occur during or immediately following recharging.
Any Volume Bicycle Helmets - These helmets do not comply with US safety standards. They can crack and fail in a collision, thus providing no protection against traumatic brain injury.
How to Check Up on Santa's Safety Record
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission maintains up-to-date information regarding recalls and defective products. The data contained within the site can tell you which products are impacted by current recalls, how many products are affected, and what you should do if you own an affected product.
Whether you've purchased beds, cribs, hoverboards, changing tables, Nerf guns, toys, electric candles, wireless chargers, etc., it is a good idea to run a search on each product. Moreover, if you do suffer an injury caused by a defective product, it is important to report the injury and the cause to the CPSC. This can protect others from suffering a similar injury.
We hope your New Year is safe and injury-free. However, if gremlins or wayward elves put a defective product beneath the tree, contact Welmaker Injury Law at (210) 828-6033, and we will be happy to assist you as you pursue claims against the manufacturer, retailer, or distributor.
